Rabbit to bring conflict, crime and scandals

FEB 4 marks the beginning of the year of the Metal Rabbit. TAN CHOE CHOE, CHAI MEI LING and SHANTI GUNARATNAM talk to feng shui practitioners to find out what the new year heralds.

After a rather difficult Tiger Year, the coming year of the Metal Rabbit would be a good time to catch your breath, but it will be a year of mixed blessings.

Master Kenny Hoo of Good Feng Shui Geomantic Research also sees this year as a year with lots of ups and downs.

While last year saw an upward trend in many aspects in life, this year would be punctuated by fluctuations, especially in the second half of the year, said Hoo.

The year's birth chart and the Flying Star chart both indicate aggression, conflict and argument. Crime rate will also rise, especially sexual crimes.

However, he said it would also be a year of consolidation where people would join forces and companies would merge.

It's a year to reassess our situations and to take steps to strengthen our resources by working with others.

"It's not a year to work alone whether you're in business or studying," he added.

However, he thinks that green is going to be the best colour for the year, as green represents Wood, the wealth element of the year.

Relationship

Love is all around this year and a lot of marriages are to be expected. But this can also be read as a possible spike in adulterous affairs.

Health

A strong Metal element is indicative of a weak liver and Wood, of respiratory system. It's advisable to smoke less. As Metal influences Water, this chain effect will affect the kidney system and can cause related ailments, such as urinary tract infection.

Wealth

It will be harder to strike it rich this year. There are ways to make money, but a lot of wisdom is needed to locate them.

The second half of the year may prove to be particularly challenging. Some might find that they cannot afford to mortgage their properties or find tenants for their shops.

Developers might find house buyers not going through with the purchase. People will be opportunistic and focus more on short-term gains. We can expect a lot of cheating and legal cases.

Economy

The country's stock market will continue to do well in the first six months of the year, but the second half of the year will require us to be more careful.

Politics

It's not going to be a smooth ride. Arguments, riots and fights will be rife whether at home, in the country or among countries.

As far as Malaysia is concerned, there will be elements of surprise in the political scene.

There will be a lot of politicking, party-hopping and legal cases. Opportunities and opportunists abound.

Natural disasters

Natural disasters will continue to occur frequently with the climate turning extreme and erratic.

It can be very cold, extremely hot or too rainy -- nothing will be moderate.
